Our Vision - August 2018

Foreword

WMR - August 2018

As I write this, there is some surprising news pouring in. The Baselworld Fair, which is clearly the iconic and representative fair for the industry, is going through a plethora of changes in quick succession. René Kamm has resigned from his position as CEO of MCH Group. This is just months after longstanding Managing Director of Baselworld, Sylvie Ritter stepped down from her post. The departure of the Swatch Group, one of the world’s largest watch companies, has just fueled uncertainties. It is clearly time for reflection. Michel Loris- Melikoff has now taken the reins of the fair and has announced many changes that will hopefully take the fair into the future! But, more on that later.

We have this issue packed with information from the watch world. The new Ladies Automatic timepieces from Frederique Constant have left us stunned and I am sure you’ll love reading about them. The collection was unveiled by Charity Brand ambassador Gwyneth Paltrow.

The festive season has begun. This is a good time of the year for the market as the demand for watches tends to go up. We start off by curating a selection of watches for Raksha Bandhan. There is an interesting trend emerging in the market. Brands are promoting certified pre-owned watches. The Horloger covers this trend. We are also in conversation with conversation with Lionel Favre, Creative Director, Jaeger LeCoultre. We also chat with Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO, Bulgari.  Well, all this and more awaits you in this issue!

Happy reading!
