 The festive season is almost upon us now and the hectic activity is going on in trade circles as B2B purchasing reaches its usual peak. The launches of the SIHH and Baselworld make their way into Indian retail shelves during this time and brand promotions start reaching a crescendo! As a word of caution, certain trade constituents issued the Statutory Warning for Consumer protection. How one wishes that there were more consumer watch exhibitions during this time around!

Brand marketers have started raising the pitch in terms of collaborative marketing initiatives. Bell& Ross announced the arrival of Simon Cudd as Community ambassador within its Digital department.At the 68th Venice International Film Festival Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrated art and artisanship. Vacheron Constantin displayed its legacy of watchmaking since 1755 by unveiling treasures that can be revered for generations.

Companies started introducing new brands and collections in a bid to offer more choice to discerning customers. Brandstromz has unveiled Ed Hardy brand in India considering that several celebrities and socialites had been promoting it in an understated way! Pierre Lannier, the top watch brand from Paris entered India. Buben&Zorweg unveiled the latest Humidor technology masterpiece --- the Grand Connoisseur. Bulova Accutron showcased the Curacao collection. Carl F. Bucherer showpieced the Adamavi – the Pleasure of Lasting Love!

Communication campaigns started becoming more pronounced. Fastrack unveiled a tongue-in-cheek communication campaign titled ‘Check Out Your Hot New Neighbour’!! Gitanjali Jewelsouk presented ‘Gitanjali-Beti’ campaign as a precursor of the marriage season. Ted Lapidus brings the iconic fashion brand to India. Tissot presented the Big Blue to Indian customerswith its spiritual colour connotations. Frédérique Constant, a young and dynamic icon fielded its own team at the Frederique Constant Polo Cup 2011, which was played in the beautiful city of Bangalore.With the Hong KongWatch Fair just concluded, the Hong Kong TourismBoard announced that the half-yearlymice arrivals grew by 10%. Titan Industries Ltd. continued to post strong growth results with Income growing by 63%and Net by 77%in Q1 FY 2012.

Well, India’s major festivals Dassehra and Diwali will set the tone and pitch while Christmas will be the icing on the cake.
