THE COURSE OF THE YEAR…

This year we have decided to split the new introductions. Hence, every two or three months, we will come up with a novelty or an event. The next 12 months are going to be exciting. I am excited about it. Even during these difficult times, we will be able to open a few boutiques! For starters, one would be in Moscow, and another in Lucerne. This is really special. We will have a huge opening. We will be flying in internationally renowned actress Li Bingbing for the event. Mr. Bucherer himself will also come. This is a signal that we can fight against the odds.

LOOKING BACK ON 2016

Last year was very challenging. From 2010 to 2015 we quadrupled our production from 6000 to 25000 pieces per year. Last year it was less by 30%. China and Hong-Kong were more affected, but in general things were down. I think it’s more of a consolidation in the industry as well. We’ve always seen fashion brands coming in and they disappear. You can see the difference in Baselworld. It is thus a good time to gain market share.

CHALLENGES IN INDIAN MARKET

The moves like demonetization and other moves did affect us, but it is still a growing market for us. Our partner, Ethos, is doing a fantastic and fabulous job. Last year was a good one for us in India. We have about 8-9 point of sales and we do have a chance to grow year by year. Ethos is very strong on digital. They have their call centre, and this benefits us. Yes, it is difficult and challenging but that is what pushes us to be more creative.
