Talk of the town

A legend comes to India

What can one say when a brand with a legacy spanning
279 years enters a country with a great love for historic
heritage? Can there be a better confluence than this? Favre-Leuba, the second oldest Swiss watch brand, with its rich heritage and legendary watches celebrates its premier in India this December.

Abraham Favre’s small workshop in Le Locle, that was first officially mentioned in 1737, has developed into this renowned watch manufacture. Led by eight generations of the Favre family without interruption up until the 1980s, Favre-Leuba was acquired by the Titan Company Limited, on November 16th, 2011. After an intensive research about the history of the brand and its legendary timepieces, the Indian watch giant is pursuing a long-term, sustainable strategy with this second oldest Swiss watch brand, which has always had a strong connect with India.

To stay true to the brands legendary past, a team of experts from designing, engineering, sales and marketing of timepieces are based in and leading the brand from Switzerland. This, along with the global power of the Tata Group, forms the perfect basis for success of the brand across the world market.

The brand will continue to harness from its strengths in technical and aesthetic developments, its stringently developed marketing strategy and its carefully cultivated values, thus emulating the position it has demonstrated in the watch industry. The brand will initially be distributed in India through select Ethos retail outlets. Thereafter, the collection will be launched across the subcontinent as well as in
Middle East, Asian economies such as Taiwan and Hong Kong as well as the established watch markets such as Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

A special mention must be made of the Raider Harpoon – the ultimate diving watch. It has been inspired by legendary timepieces of the brand. To create this masterpiece, the method of time-telling has been completely rethought, thereby giving us a diving watch that proves its worth with just one hand! The standard form of time indication has been redesigned to allow for easier and precise reading of the important minutes, crucial to every diver, under all conditions.

Indeed, the Indian market is quite ready for this wonderful mélange of heritage and watchmaking expertise.
