Fake watches racket busted!

The menace of fake watches is one that has gripped the watch industry for long. TIMEX, one of the world’s largest watch manufacturer, upon obtaining orders from Hon’ble Patiala House Court, New Delhi followed with support from Delhi Police has busted a fake watches racket in Delhi. The TIMEX Group India Limited (TGIL) filed a civil suit in the court of Mukesh Kumar, Patiala House Court, Delhi post which a raid was conducted by the Local Commissioner appointed by the Hon’ble Court and more than 500 finished watches along with other spare parts were seized.

TGIL being an American brand which always focuses on offering its consumers the best quality, service and experience got to know that a fake watches racket of TIMEX watches was being conducted by Vardhman Times (Shahdara, Delhi). The firm was conducting an
unauthorized business of selling, manufacturing, marketing, purveying, supplying of wrist watches, watch straps, bands and other related products including packaging while using the trademark TIMEX on an online website. Thus, TGIL decided to take action against the firm to save its consumers from getting deceived.

Anupam Mathur, Head - Sales and Marketing, Timex Group India Limited said, “We are thankful to the authorities for their support in helping us get to the bottom of the issue. TIMEX as an international brand is extremely cautious and vigilant about such practices since we are committed to offer best quality Timex products to Indian consumers. Thus we will not hesitate to take stern action against anyone involved in such malpractices.”

The firm, its representatives and activities have been restrained from using the trademark “TIMEX” in relation to wrist watches, straps, bands and any other related products and packaging along with seizure of the fake products.
